3D anatomy models
The 3D anatomy charts are adapted from these works, built from scans of real human bodies:
- “BodyParts3D” — The Database Center for Life Science (DBCLS), Japan — licensed under CC BY-SA 2.1 Japan.
- “Z-Anatomy — The open source atlas of anatomy” (Lluís Vinent Juanico, Gauthier Kervyn and contributors) — licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.
Changes made by Medicloom: parts were selected and grouped into chart areas, simplified and compressed for phones, a wisdom tooth was added behind each second molar, the lower jaw was opened, and a rectum, ear canals and maxillary sinuses were added as simple shapes. The adapted model files (/models/*.glb) are shared under the same licence, CC BY-SA 4.0.
Female reproductive organs and breasts (gynaecology chart) are adapted from “3D Reference Organ Set for Female” by Kristen Browne and Heidi Schlehlein, Human Reference Atlas / HuBMAP (built on the Visible Human Dataset of the U.S. National Library of Medicine), licensed under CC BY 4.0, via the open-source Human-Atlas project by slorksmo (MIT). Changes: parts selected and grouped into chart areas, the torso skin trimmed, a schematic uterine lining added, simplified and compressed.
The milk-teeth model is an approximation made by Medicloom from the adult BodyParts3D teeth (scaled and placed on a smaller arch). The optic disc and macula on the eye model are simple shapes added by Medicloom.
Parts of the Z-Anatomy atlas that are licensed for non-commercial use only (the inner ear and the detailed kidney model) are not used.
Software
Medicloom uses open-source software including Next.js, React, three.js, Drizzle ORM and PostgreSQL, each under its own licence.
